Are PLA clamshell containers compostable or recyclable?
PLA clamshell containers are certified for industrial composting. They break down in commercial composting facilities into water, CO₂, and biomass within 90–180 days. They are not compatible with standard plastic recycling streams.
Can PLA clamshells hold hot food?
Standard PLA has a heat deflection temperature of around 110–140°F (45–60°C), making it best suited for cold foods, fresh produce, salads, and chilled deli items. For hot food applications, ask us about our heat-tolerant PLA blend options.
